In the United States, the Robert Walters recruiting company conducted a study and received unexpected results, contrary to the common opinion about the desire for a career of representatives of the Z generation – young people up to 27 years old, or Zumers. The study showed that the Zumers are not ready to waste personal time and “devote their lives” to the career advancement.
The survey concerned the desire of the Zumers to occupy the position of a middle -level manager – a position without which it is impossible to “grow” above. However, among young people, the Z 57% generations are not interested in holding such a position (similar leadership positions), due to the “high level of stress and low salaries.”
The Zumers gave preference to individual career growth, free (flexible) schedule and the need to find a balance between work and personal life. The reason for this attitude to the average leading link, young people mainly called the similarity of such work with the bureaucracy, the stinginess of people who occupy such positions, and their lack of talent to instruct, inspire employees and involve subordinates in a productive workflow.
As a result of a similar attitude to the quarry, a new trend is formed, pushing the zumers to freelance or work in “horizontally controlled structures”, where there is the possibility of greater autonomy and responsibility in decision -making.
