Apple allows you to back up information and settings stored on devices such as iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch to iCloud. This means that even if you buy a new device, you don’t have to reconfigure everything from scratch, and you can simply log in and restore from a backup to start with the same environment as before.
Apple says, “Starting December 18, 2024, device backups will require iOS 9 or later. This is to bring us closer to our published minimum software requirements. Until this date, service will continue as usual. “However, your backup data will be deleted after that unless you update to iOS 9 or later,” it says in a support document published on November 18, 2024.
Also, after December 18, 2024, devices running iOS 8 or earlier will no longer be able to create new backups or access existing backups. To continue using iCloud backup, you need to update to iOS 9 or later.
However, this does not mean that your device will become unusable; all your apps, data, and content will remain on your device. You can also still manually back up your device to your PC or Mac using iTunes or the Finder.
