The industry club “AI in mechanical engineering” under the leadership of KAMAZ Digital based on the Alliance in the field of artificial intelligence can become a platform for the development of generative AI technologies in engineering and industrial design. Representatives of the Alliance in the field of AI told CNews about this.
In preparation for the club’s work, the first partnerships have already been concluded, including a cooperation agreement between the AIRI Institute and KAMAZ Digital. At the next stage, the club’s participants will have to solve the problem of how to create conditions for the accelerated penetration of AI in the development of complex products on the one hand, and bring the developments of large technology companies closer to useful application on the other.
Andrey BelevtsevSenior Vice President, Head of the Technological Development Block at Sberbank: “GenAI technologies are becoming increasingly universal, and their implementation and application in each specific product is becoming easier and cheaper. Progress in generative design allows us to say that in a short time we will reach engineering, which will be done to a large extent by generative models. At Sber, we already know how to add new modalities to GenAI models, including non-standard ones like banking transactions. But we need the correct formulation of the business problem, as well as criteria for understanding whether the model solves the problem or not. And here Sber cannot do without industrial companies. It is important that they can share their knowledge and developments, and we can improve our GenAI models based on them. Such synergy produces really working products that go into industrial operation. Generative artificial intelligence will help industry reach a new level.”
Eldar ShavalievCEO of KAMAZ Digital: “Today, the domestic industry is in the state of a hockey player who needs to run to where the puck will be the next moment. So far, we see that the market for domestic software in the field of engineering is developing in the paradigm of established processes. With great caution, today we raised the issue that in order to jump into the future, we need not just to get new software, we need to start rebuilding engineering processes in a new paradigm, in which AI is assigned the role of chief engineer, not co-pilot.”

The new industry club will be the fifth one based on the Alliance in the field of AI. Previously, clubs were created and are functioning that are responsible for the development of AI in healthcare, transport, construction and the agro-industrial complex.
The Alliance in the field of artificial intelligence was created in 2019 and unites technology companies for the development of artificial intelligence in Russia. Among the participants are Sberbank, Yandex, VK, RDIF, Sibur, JSC UCC Uralchem, Rusagro Group, Severstal, Samolet Group, T-Bank, etc.
