The Floral diagram generator screen looks like this. In addition to specifying the number and shape of various components in the settings field on the right side of the screen, you can also generate a flower diagram by entering the flower style in the lower right of the screen.

This time, I will create a flower diagram for the Brassicaceae family, which consists of 4 sepals, 4 petals, 6 stamens, and 1 pistil.

In the flower diagram, the number of sepals is represented by “K”, the number of petals is represented by “C”, the number of stamens is represented by “A”, and the number of pistils is represented by “G”. In addition, most flowers of the Brassicaceae family have a structure in which “two stamens are located around the outer periphery of four stamens” and “the two parts fuse together to form one pistil.” Taking these into account, the flower style diagram can be expressed as follows. “A2+4” indicates the arrangement of the stamens, and “G(2)” indicates the composition of the pistils.

K4 C4 A2+4 G(2)

Enter “K4 C4 A2 + 4 G (2)” in the flower formula input field at the bottom right of the Floral diagram generator screen and click “submit formula”.

Then, a flower diagram will be displayed on the left side of the screen.

On the settings screen on the right side of the screen, you can change the number of each component and specify its shape. Let’s try changing the shape of the sepals.

Furthermore, since the angle could be set, I decided to rotate it 45 degrees.

When the settings are complete, click “submit form”.

The flower ceremony diagram as set is displayed. You can download the created flower ceremony diagram in SVG format by clicking “download .svg” at the bottom left of the screen.

The downloaded SVG image looks like this.

The Floral diagram generator was developed by Tomáš Kebert as part of his university graduation research. Mr. Kebert’s bachelor’s thesis (in Czech) is available at the link below.
