MTS launched over 150 base stations with a “high-speed” range in Surgut and suburban settlements

PJSC MTS, a digital ecosystem, has completed the modernization of the mobile communications network in Surgut and the Surgut region. As a result of the transfer of 3G frequencies to the modern LTE standard, the Internet speed of city residents and visitors to the region has increased by an average of 30%. This was reported to CNews by MTS representatives.

Modernization was carried out at more than 150 base stations located in the central, eastern, north-eastern, northern industrial and northern residential areas of Surgut. The speed of mobile Internet increased on Lenin Avenue, Mira, Universitetskaya Street, Nefteyugansk Highway, as well as in the Za Saima Park, where city residents like to relax. Network capacity also increased on the territory of Surgut State University, preschool and school educational institutions, clinics, and the historical and cultural complex Old Surgut.

The quality of communication has improved in the area of city-forming oil and gas companies, industrial and logistics centers, as well as the State District Power Plant, the largest electricity producer in the country. The mobile network upgrade will help personnel use digital services efficiently and quickly, thereby increasing the speed of decision-making in emergency situations.

The speed of mobile Internet has also increased for residents of settlements near Surgut – in Bely Yar, Snezhny, Solnechny, Dorozhny and Barsovo. From the urban settlement of Barsovo, the route to the eco-trail “CheloVechnost” and the popular cultural heritage site – the tract “Barsova Gora”, where a large number of archaeological monuments have been discovered, starting from the Neolithic era, begins.

“In Surgut and its suburbs, we have implemented a large-scale refarming project. The release of old frequencies for the most effective ranges helped us significantly increase the capacity of the mobile radio network, and subscribers felt a noticeable increase in the speed of mobile Internet. In addition, this allowed us to expand access to VoLTE for users – a voice communication technology that allows you to talk on your smartphone and continue an Internet session at the same time. All this opens up new digital opportunities for residents of Yugra, improves comfort and quality of life, – said the director of MTS in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug Evgeny Torgashin.
