The YouTube channel Hardware Tested tested the Ryzen 5 5500 and Ryzen 7 3700X in various games at 1080p and in work programs.
Red Dead Redemption 2 was run with ultra graphics and averaged 120 fps in both cases.
Forza Horizon 5 was tested with high graphics, with average frame rates of 170 fps (R7 3700X) and 165 fps (R5 5500).
Fortnite Chapter 5 S3 came with the Medium preset. The average FPS in this game was 188 fps and 194 fps (with R7 and R5, respectively). In Performance mode, performance reached 255 fps (R7) and 245 fps (R5).
In Cyberpunk 2077, at high graphics settings without DLSS Quality and RTX On, the average performance was 86 fps (R7 3700X) and 90 fps (R5 5500).
ARK Survival Evolved came with Epic graphics, with average FPS of 156 fps (R7) and 154 fps (R5).
In Assetto Corsa with the Default preset, the average frame rate was 239 fps (R7) and 270 fps (R5).
BeamNG Drive was tested with High graphics. The average performance in this game was 98 fps (3700X) and 112 fps (5500).
PUBG was launched with the Medium preset. On average, the FPS was 236 fps (with R7) and 213 fps (with R5).
Rainbow Six Siege was running on the high preset. The average frame rate in this game was 289 fps (R7 3700X) and 272 fps (R5 5500).
In Rust with the maximum preset, we managed to get an average of 131 fps (R7) and 143 fps (R5).
Warzone 3 Competitive launched with Balanced graphics, with average frame rates of 130 fps (R7) and 127 fps (R5).
In Apex Legends with high graphics, the average FPS was 267 fps (R7) and 275 fps (R5).
CS 2 was tested with the Custom preset. On average, the performance in this game was at 231 fps (R7) and 228 fps (R5).
Microsoft Flight Simulator was running with high graphics. The average FPS in this game was 61 fps and 72 fps (with R7 and R5 respectively).

Conclusion
In games excluding those that used DLSS (The Witcher 3, some results in Cyberpunk 2077, Warzone 3), the average FPS difference between the Ryzen 7 3700X and Ryzen 5 5500 was 1% (177 fps and 179 fps, respectively). In synthetics, the results were mixed. In some places the 3700X was better, and in others the 5500, but not significantly.
