Research shows that Japanese people who inherited DNA from Jomon people have a high BMI, suggesting that hunter-gatherer DNA may pose a health risk in modern times

Research results have shown that the genetic characteristics of the Jomon people, a hunter-gatherer people living in ancient Japan, are associated with high body mass index (BMI). This study also yielded findings that support the “triple structure model,” which states that modern Japanese people have inherited DNA from three lineages, including the Jomon people.
