The expert explained what humanity will need to travel to other galaxies
According to Georgy Uspensky, a veteran of TsNIIMash and a participant in the launch of the first artificial Earth satellite, humanity will need another 200-500 years to begin serious travel through the Milky Way and neighboring galaxies. He emphasized that this requires completely new technologies and energy. Uspensky noted that modern astronautics does not have the necessary technical means, and without innovations in energy, communications and navigation, such travel will remain just a dream.
According to him, one of the possible solutions could be gravitational astronautics. First, humanity will master the solar system, and then it will be able to go to the nearest stars, and only then explore our galaxy and others. Uspensky is confident that such complex problems will require two to five centuries to be solved.
The scientist also emphasized that going beyond the solar system is the key to expanding the living space of humanity. He believes that this will be the same technological breakthrough as the launch of the first satellite in 1957, opening up new opportunities for the development of resources in space objects.
