Water that comes directly from natural sources is called raw. Now she is gaining popularity. But its main difference from bottled and water supply is that it is not checked for safety.
Adherents of raw water claim that it is good for health. For example, it contains the necessary minerals and probiotics that are removed from tap water. But this idea is incorrect, since these minerals are too few so that they can be removed in the process of filtration. In addition, according to experts, the majority of minerals we consume come from food, and not from water.
It was also not scientifically proven that raw water contains useful bacteria – probiotics. There are no studies that would associate natural water with health benefits. All this is rather a placebo effect. Even the idea that raw water is tastier is rather a psychological phenomenon.
Raw water also carries the risk of serious gastrointestinal infections that are caused by many pathogens. The viruses that are transmitted through water include Rotavirus and Norovirus. They cause rapidly beginning diarrhea and vomiting, hepatitis A, affecting the liver.
Bacteria such as E. Coli and Salmonella, or CryptosPoridium and Giardia parasites, also lead to diarrhea, which can lead to a dangerous level of dehydration. Toxoplasma gondii can also be hidden in raw water. These bacteria cause a miscarriage or congenital defects in the fetus if you use such water during pregnancy.
Raw water may contain algae that release toxins that cause problems with the stomach and damage to the brain and nervous system.
