◆1: Pixel 9 series spec comparison
The specs for the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL look like this. From the specs, we can see that all three models have the same SoC, Google Tensor G4, but even if the SoC is the same, there are differences in processing performance due to minor differences in specifications. Also, if we look at the battery capacity, we can see that the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro have 4700mAh, and the Pixel 9 Pro XL has 5060mAh, but the actual battery life varies depending on the screen size and resolution. Therefore, this time we will actually conduct benchmarks and battery life tests to dig into the performance differences that cannot be seen from the specs table.

◆2: Compare the results of benchmark tests
To check the processing performance of the three models, we used the benchmark app “AnTuTu BenchmarkLet’s try running “.
The Pixel 9’s overall score was 889,722 points, with a CPU score of 137,063 and a GPU score of 418,950 points.
The Pixel 9 Pro had an overall score of 948,010 points, a CPU score of 135,263 points, and a GPU score of 452,818 points.
The Pixel Pro XL had an overall score of 919,327 points, a CPU score of 134,038 points, and a GPU score of 449,485 points.
The benchmark scores for the three models are summarized in a table like this. The Pixel 9 Pro had the highest score.
Model name | Pixel 9 | Pixel 9 Pro | Pixel 9 Pro XL |
---|---|---|---|
Overall score | 889,722 items | 948,010 items | 919,327 items |
CPU Score | 137,063 items | 135,263 items | 134,038 items |
GPU Score | 418,950 items | 452,818 items | 449,485 items |
Memory Score | 164,195 items | 161,905 items | 165,601 items |
UX Score | 169,514 items | 198,024 items | 170,203 items |
We also measured the surface temperature during the benchmark. The upper half of the Pixel 9’s surface rose to a temperature of 42.2°C.
On the back side, the temperature rises near the camera bar, with the hottest spot reaching 41.4 degrees.
The surface of the Pixel 9 Pro rises to 40.3 degrees.
The back side is also 40.3 degrees.
The surface of the Pixel 9 Pro XL is 39.4 degrees.
The temperature on the back side was 39.7 degrees.
◆3: Compare battery life
To compare the battery life of the three models, we measured the battery life from 100%.YouTube videosI played the music continuously and measured how long it took for the battery to run out.
The time was measured by setting up the camera as shown below, taking pictures every minute, and measuring the time until the screen went black. Note that the volume of each device was about 50%, the brightness was about 80%, and the room temperature was 25 degrees when the measurements were taken. In addition, a Wi-Fi connection was used instead of a mobile line.
The Pixel 9 Pro XL ran out of power 19 hours and 9 minutes after the measurement began.
After 19 hours and 34 minutes, the Pixel 9 also turned off.
The Pixel 9 Pro ran out of power after 20 hours and 33 minutes.
Below is a table summarizing the time it takes for the battery to run out from 100%. The Pixel 9 Pro XL has a larger battery capacity than other models, but the screen size is also larger, so the battery life is relatively short.
Model name | Battery life |
---|---|
Pixel 9 | 19 hr 34 min |
Pixel 9 Pro | 20 hr 33 min |
Pixel 9 Pro XL | 19 hr 9 min |
◆4: Compare charging speeds
We connected the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL to a charger when the battery level was at 0%, and recorded the progress of the battery level until the device was fully charged. The charging adapter was ADATA’s USB PD 3.1 compatible “APD-V140AC2-BK” and the USB cable is an E Core cable that can be purchased at 100 yen shops.“A versatile cable that can be used for anything (100W PD compatible cable, 1m, with dedicated stand)”I am using.
Below is a graph showing the remaining battery level every 10 minutes. The Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro were fully charged in 90 minutes, and the Pixel 9 Pro XL in 80 minutes.
USB TesterPower-Z KM003CThe results of measuring the current, voltage, and power during charging are below. The Pixel 9’s charging protocol is “PD3.0 23W”, and it was able to charge quickly at around 24W.
The Pixel 9 Pro’s charging protocol is “PD3.0 27W”. The power is around 24W, the same as the Pixel 9.
The charging protocol for the Pixel 9 Pro XL is “PD3.0 36W”, and the power is around 33 W. Although the Pixel 9 Pro XL has a large battery capacity, it enables faster charging by increasing the input power during charging.
◆5: Compare camera performance
The Pixel 9 has two rear cameras, while the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL have three rear cameras. The camera performance of the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro XL has been verified in detail in the following article. To summarize briefly, “The performance of the wide-angle and ultra-wide-angle cameras is the same, so if you don’t need a telephoto camera, the Pixel 9 is fine,” and “The digital zoom of the telephoto camera is quite excellent, so if you want to shoot a distant subject, the Pixel 9 Pro or Pixel 9 Pro XL are definitely recommended.”
